Football Trivia ("we", "our", or "the app") is a daily football trivia game. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data to provide and improve the app experience:

• Game state — Your scores, streaks, and completed puzzles are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.
• Anonymous identifier — We may generate a random anonymous ID via Amazon Cognito Identity Pools to back up your game progress in a future update. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information.
• Anonymous analytics — We may collect anonymous usage data (e.g., which game modes are popular, crash reports) to improve app quality. This data cannot identify you.
• Push notification tokens — If you opt in to daily reminders, your device notification token is stored locally to schedule local notifications. We do not use remote push notification services.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
• We do not use third-party tracking or advertising SDKs that create user profiles.

3. How We Use Data

• To save and restore your game progress on your device.
• To back up anonymous game progress across devices (future feature; not yet active).
• To send local push notifications for daily puzzle reminders (if opted in).
• To analyze aggregated, anonymous usage patterns for app improvement.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The app has no accounts, no leaderboards, and shares nothing between players.

5. Data Storage and Security

Game data is stored locally on your device. Any future cloud backup would use Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow industry-standard security practices.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights:

• Right to access — You can view all your stored data within the app (Settings > My Data).
• Right to deletion — You can delete all your data using the "Delete Account" button in the app settings. This permanently removes your local data and any cloud-stored data.
• Right to portability — You can export your game data from the app settings.
• Right to opt out — You can disable notifications and analytics at any time in the app settings or your device settings.

For California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing anonymous data is legitimate interest in providing and improving the app. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children's Privacy

Our app is suitable for all ages and rated "Everyone." We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Since we do not collect personal information from any users, there is no special risk to children.

8. Third-Party Services

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Cloud infrastructure for app content, remote configuration, and anonymous authentication.
• Expo / React Native — App development framework (no data collection).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Trademarks and Intellectual Property

Football Trivia is an unofficial, fan-made game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any football club, league, federation, or governing body (including FIFA, UEFA, the Premier League, or any national association). All club names, badges, crests, and other trademarks shown in the game are the property of their respective owners and are used solely to identify the clubs and competitions referred to in quiz questions.
